Large canopies of Vitex parviflora outcompete native plant life. Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Blaz and the University of Guam’s Guam Plant Extinction Prevention Program are researching removal methods for Vitex parviflora and other invasive species on Guam and in the CNMI. This is the largest forest restoration effort in recorded history on Guam, covering over 1,000 acres of forest enhancement sites as part of MCB Camp Blaz’s commitment to a responsible military buildup process. This year marks the 73rd year of the National Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Campaign and the 11th year on Guam. The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.
