MCB Camp Blaz Kicks Off Fire Prevention Week
U.S. Marine Corps Col. Christopher Bopp, the Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Blaz commanding officer, poses for a photo with Sparky the Fire Dog and members of the MCB Camp Blaz Fire Department after signing a proclamation kicking off Fire Prevention Week aboard the base, Sept. 30, 2021. Fire Prevention Week is observed in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire that occurred Oct. 8-10, 1871. This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety,” which refers to the sounds that smoke alarms make. When you hear a beep, get on your feet, get out, and call 9-1-1. When you hear a chirp, make a change, replace the battery. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Andrew King)
